Glass Demo feat. Christian Stock

Glass Demo feat. Christian Stock

YAYA regularly hosts glass making demonstrations at the YAYA Arts Center. Join us on Friday, September 13 for our season opener! Help support our free, arts programming by participating in our Goblet Grab! Take home a custom glass or ceramic cup made in house starting at $25 and enjoy FREE drinks for the night! (Sponsored by NOLA Brewing)

Our season opener will feature glass artist, Christian Stock. Originally from Bristol, England, Stock received a B.A. in Design from Staffordshire University and an M.F.A. in Glass from Tulane University, where he was the recipient of the the Eleanor B. Kohlmeyer Award for Graduate Studies in Studio Art. In 2018, he joined the faculty at Tulane as Professor of Practice in Glass. Stock previously taught sculpture at Loyola University and glass casting at YAYA Arts Center in New Orleans.  His studio practice reflects his interest in structural forms and mechanical systems, especially architectural and organic frameworks, suspension bridges, medieval contraptions, and primitive supporting structures. Stock’s sculptures often combine glass with steel and concrete, today's three main building materials.  Utilizing glass' strength under tension and compression, and playing with its apparent unsuitability has been an integral part of his transformation of ideas about structure and space into sculpture.

This event is FREE and open to all ages. Must be 21+ to drink.
